August Haps + September Goals

August Happenings

  • Celebrated John’s birthday by hanging with his family at the lake close to our home, and then dinner at Bida Manda and surprise stay at The Guest House in downtown Raleigh! It was fantastic!

  • Hosted friends at my home to celebrate my dear friend’s birthday over charcuterie and conversation!

  • Got my first COVER FEATURE for hair and makeup on the Harvest Issue of Good Grit Magazine! AHHH!

  • Had my closet edit session with local fashion stylist Melissa de Leon - and I absolutely LOVED it. More on that later! And BONUS: Melissa is this month’s Kindred author sharing some serious gold nuggets of wisdom you do not want to miss!

  • Had several hair and makeup clients throughout the month, styled a photoshoot, and also modeled in a photoshoot!

  • Released my first music single since 2012, called Center of It - which you can stream anywhere!

  • Enjoyed a family vacay with John’s fam at Lake Gaston, and it was so dreamy and restful!

  • Started back up our campus church gathering at NC State, and had a cookout at Dorothea Dix park with that fam to kick off the start of the school year!

  • Finished reading the first Mitford book At Home in Mitford and totally got lost in the simple small-town charm of Mitford. If you’re looking for a heartfelt book to start fall, I highly recommend this one!

  • Started easing into feeling fall, including hanging on my hammock in the late afternoon and burning an apple cider candle :)

  • Walked with John through some challenging work circumstances and supporting as we decided to look for another job for him. Best decision ever!

September Goals

  • Take some time off of social media - With two big launches in the last several months, it has felt tough to break away from social media. But September is the perfect time for me to create some margin and turn off extraneous noise!

  • In a similar vain, I’m aiming to watch less Netflix, and read more books! I’ll be attending my first book club, and this month we’re reading A Man Called Ove. I’m also reading the second Mitford book A Light in the Window, as well as A Field Guide to Getting Lost, and One Hour Content Plan.

  • Clean my car, inside and out.

  • Enjoy some date nights - go to the movies!

  • Take a trip with John while he has free time before his next job

  • For music - order merch and get the ball rolling for a full-length album!

  • For writing - contact clients, create Pinterest graphics (thanks to coaching from Joanne at The Girl Inspired Club!) and post content to Instagram

  • For LULA - restock kit with new product, focusing on clean beauty

  • For health - take walks in this beautiful weather, drink more water, and cut back on alcohol and caffeine

  • Decorate for fall in mid-September! Our first fall in our tiny county home! I inherited the perfect fall wreath from my mom during their move and I can’t wait to hang it!

  • More mornings and evenings outside

  • Start building our screened-in porch!

Sending you lots of love and grace for your month! Go get em!
