September Haps + October Goals

September Haps

  • John was home all month as a rest time before starting his new job. It was wonderful! We made headway on lots of home projects!

  • Finally knocked out some landscaping at the front of our house. Thanks to Homewood Nursery for the great plant choices and knowledgable workers!

  • Had 3 hair and makeup clients

  • Went on a few fall walks through the woods and at our local park

  • Decorated for fall! We have a gorgeous fall wreath from my mom, 2 lanterns on our porch (with solar-powered faux candles) that look so homey, a leaf garland, and the ever-favorite Sweater Weather candle

  • Went to Beaufort with some of our dear friends! Went on a few last swims before the weather gets too cold and stopped at a new BBQ joint on the way for #samandjohnsbbqtour

  • Saw two great movies in the theater - The Peanut Butter Falcon (a must-see in my opinion!) and the Downton Abbey movie (which we saw at the Alamo - I will definitely be going there again!)

  • Re-started Gilmore Girls - the perfect time of year : )

  • Went to Boulted Bread with my love

  • Had a picnic at the park with John’s mom in the most perfect weather

  • Got to see those pretty model pics from the Pamut shoot, and share a little bit about myself as well!

September goal follow-up

  • ✓ Take some time off of social media - With two big launches in the last several months, it has felt tough to break away from social media.  But September is the perfect time for me to create some margin and turn off extraneous noise!

    • Yes and yes! I spent significantly less time on social media this month and it was lovely! I feel like I sleep better, feel more clear-headed, and make better face-to-face connections when I do this.

  • In a similar vain, I’m aiming to watch less Netflix (✘ ), and read more books! I’ll be attending my first book club, and this month we’re reading A Man Called Ove (✓). I’m also reading the second Mitford book A Light in the Window, as well as A Field Guide to Getting Lost, and One Hour Content Plan.

    • I still watched plenty of Netflix! It’s a hard habit to break - I just like having it on during the daytime more as background noise. But a new Great British Baking started so I consider that a bit of a win : ) I read A Man Called Ove and watched the movie and cried my eyes out, and I’m almost done with A Light in the Window

  • ➜ Clean my car, inside and out.

  • ✓ Enjoy some date nights - go to the movies! - Saw The Peanut Butter Falcon with John and had lots of date lunches while he was off of work!

  • ✓ Take a trip with John while he has free time before his next job - Went to Beaufort with our friends, grilled out, had a date lunch, and played in the sand!

  • For music - ✘ order merch and ✓ get the ball rolling for a full-length album!

  • ✓➜ For writing - contact clients, create Pinterest graphics (thanks to coaching from Joanne at The Girl Inspired Club!) and post content to Instagram

  • ✓ For LULA - restock kit with new product, focusing on clean beauty - ordered a TON of stuff from Beautycounter that I’m really excited to have in my kit!

  • ✓✓ For health - take walks in this beautiful weather, drink more water, and cut back on alcohol and caffeine

  • ✓ Decorate for fall in mid-September! Our first fall in our tiny county home! I inherited the perfect fall wreath from my mom during their move and I can’t wait to hang it!

  • ✓ More mornings and evenings outside

  • ✓➜ Start building our screened-in porch!
